Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting geotechnical investigations, overseeing field and laboratory tests, and performing engineering analyses for building foundations. This role involves managing multiple projects, supervising field staff, and ensuring client commitments are met.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations including test borings and pits with soil classification.

  • Conduct and oversee percolation tests in the field.

  • Oversee laboratory tests on soil and construction materials.

  • Conduct engineering analyses for building foundations.

  • Develop proposals and final reports, ensuring client commitments are met.

  • Take responsibility for overall project supervision including directing field staff.

  • Prioritize projects and tasks to achieve department and company objectives.

  • Multi-task and stay focused on the big picture while addressing daily issues.

  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Actively participate in professional and technical organizations.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of Geotechnical Engineering experience.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain it within the first 3 months of employment.

  • Experience working in Arizona, Nevada, or Texas (Southwest).

  • Experience working on commercial, public works, or residential projects.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, and purchase orders.

  • Proficiency in planning, scheduling, and production.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the job offered or as Geotechnical Engineer/Associate Engineer.

  • General knowledge of construction principles/processes.

  • Experience managing field staff with strong organizational, follow-through, and communication skills.

  • High degree of professionalism and strong work ethic.

  • 5 years of varied geotechnical/civil construction experience.

  • Ability to take ownership of the job, think independently, and be a problem solver.

Work Environment

Travel to job sites required (approximately 30% of the time). Work will involve outdoor activities in the Arizona climate. A minimum of 45 hours per week is expected, with potential for more during peak times. You will be working on a variety of project types including roadway, high-rise, industrial complexes, and water facilities. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00

Working for a local company, with access to owners and senior leaders in office daily. They also offer work life balance as many of their employees do not work beyond the 40 hour work week.
