He/she is responsible for leadership on informatics teams and initiatives, representing the needs and requirements of clinicians. The incumbent will take ownership of clinical information technology initiatives and lead teams to ensure optimal outcomes and adoption of new processes within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The incumbent is integral to the support of VHA programs that provide client-centered health care to Veterans and provides advanced and secure enterprise data systems, analytic and measurement solutions, decision support, and business intelligence that facilitate evidence-based decisions for individual Veterans and their families, client populations, clinicians, and those managing healthcare delivery systems. Health Informatics is a discipline at the intersection of information science, computer science, and health care that designs and delivers information to improve clinical care, individual and public health, and biomedical research. The health care component of informatics includes the clinical sciences and in-depth knowledge of health care delivery for people, processes, and organizations. The incumbent promotes the development and implementation of VHA client centered information technology and information management solutions, supports VA and Department of Defense interoperability and health information exchange initiatives. Health Informatics also champions consumer health informatics, promotes emerging technologies, and advances codified terminologies and national standards. The products and services provided by this office will impact health and healthcare at VA health systems designed for Veterans. With a focus on transformation, health informatics serves as a focal point for the advancement of VHA's electronic health record and information systems. Customer-focused training and support along with transparent oversight and governance will help to ensure that these tools are used most effectively to serve Veterans and VHA. Qualifications Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Podiatrist Basic Requirements Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. AND Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. AND Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience: Experience supporting and promoting system standardization, utilization, and best practices in the area of clinical quality informatics. Experience providing input, updates and communication on clinical quality informatics initiatives at medical staff, leadership, and other hospital committees. Experience providing specialized support for physicians. Experience with the operations and workflows of clinical care provider organizations, including health systems leadership, delivery of care, outcomes, strategic planning and management. Experience with Data analytics with how the vast volumes of electronic data now available from a multitude of sources can be analyzed to develop strategies that impact the quality, efficiency and cost of care.
