McDermott Senior Principal Expeditor in The Hague, Netherlands
Job Overview:
The Senior Principal Expeditor is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that broadly impact the business. They must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. They are considered a specialist in Expediting and offer a broad knowledge base about the Supply Chain function. The Senior Principal Expeditor role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to Expediting challenges. They impact the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and work within general functional policies and industry guidelines.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Lead the project’s process, with possible supervisory duties
Develop and execute expediting strategy to track the movement of project materials and deliverables
Develop effective expediting cadence based on schedule, shop demand, and workload
Liaise with Logistics Leadership and Package Management to facilitate the timely status of project goods and materials
Support supplier performance review process on behalf of Expediting
Effectively communicate with Procurement, suppliers, and other process stakeholders
Support the Area as a process lead
Review Purchase Order delivery requirements to assure quality and project requirements are met
Identify and understand levels of required expediting and actions workload to optimize material deliveries according to project schedule requirements and shop demands
Include accurate and timely expediting of Purchase Orders and Material Test Reports (MTRs)
Complete consistent and timely updates to delivery dates in the Company system and distributes weekly expedite reports to the Project Team and Suppliers
Ensure the Supplier’s timely delivery of all items on Purchase Orders to maintain the Project schedule
Work with procurement management to identify performance gaps and delays, including engineering drawing delays, fabrication problems, delivery delays, sub-supplier management, and people resources
Ensure expedited issues are being coordinated between the other departments, offices, fabrication, and construction teams to meet project requirements and deadlines
Notify and collaborate with Logistics subject matter experts on material movements that fall within McDermott’s responsibility
Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott’s end-product, whether procurement, engineering, fabrication, or construction related
Ensure effective communications among procurement disciplines, clients, project teams, and suppliers
Understand and consistently use expediting procedures as established in company policies
Perform other Supply Chain Management tasks as assigned
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management (or a relevant discipline) or HSD/GED/IGCSE with 15 years of relevant experience
10-16 years of relevant experience
Demonstrates knowledge of the expediting process as related to procurement
Ability to effectively communicate with procurement personnel and non-procurement personnel
Ability to work well with others
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
A comprehensive understanding of the overall material management lifecycle
Well-versed in the Expediting process
Strong knowledge of Materials Management systems for procurement and logistics
