Aircraft Painter
**POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the painter operates and maintains painting equipment to paint aircraft parts to specification. This position will assist production technicians with preparing aircraft parts for inspections by using solvent cleaners, as well as applying tape to and removing tape from parts and components.

Requirements**
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- 2 plus years of experience in related paint processes.
- Auto-body Paint Experience May Apply
- Experience in the aircraft industry is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of paint processes and products is necessary.
- Work in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Use, handle and dispose of hazardous materials per government regulations and company procedures.
**Physical Requirements
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Safety glasses and close-toed shoes are mandatory in the shop areas.
**Essential Functions Statement
Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms and paint sprayers; sealants; paint strippers and corrosion-preventive chemicals; and use protective equipment as required. Comply with safety rules and procedures and be alert for unsafe conditions. Safely perform preparation, painting and detailing under minimal supervision. Coordinate with supervision and inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs and quality inspection. Mix paints to manual specifications, then stir and thin the paints, using spatulas or power mixing equipment. Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces in preparation for paint application using abrasives, solvents, brushes, or sandblasters. Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties. Set up portable equipment, such as ventilators or exhaust units. Sand surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats. Dispose of hazardous waste Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools.
