As the eCommerce Site Merchandiser for Japan, you will play a crucial role in optimizing merchandising strategies and enhancing the customer journey on the Microsoft Online Store. Your responsibilities will include planning and executing a merchandising calendar that supports key promotions and events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, ensuring alignment with regional and global strategies to drive revenue. You will collaborate closely with Regional Digital Store Leads and Category Managers to define priorities for merchandising campaigns, lead experimentation and optimization efforts, and work with the Global Launch team to execute new product launches, including Surface devices, accessories, and Xbox Consoles.

Responsibilities

As the eCommerce Site Merchandiser, Japan, you will be responsible for executing strategies that optimize customer experiences and drive revenue. We are looking for an out-of-the-box thinker who is comfortable using data to turn insights into action, identify optimization opportunities, and propose innovative A/B test ideas. The successful candidate will articulate what drives the business, analyze traffic and web funnel patterns, and delve into conversion metrics to identify areas for customer journey improvement.

  • Plan and execute merchandising strategies across all buying pages to enhance customer experience, increase sales, and improve conversion rates.

  • Develop and optimize customer journeys to maximize engagement, learning, and purchasing, with a focus on understanding what drives customers to buy.

  • Utilize Adobe Analytics to analyze web data, generating actionable insights to drive conversion and revenue growth, and proposing A/B tests for continuous improvement.

  • Conduct daily site reviews to ensure accurate product display, categorization, and pricing, reflecting a detail-oriented approach.

  • Stay current with eCommerce trends in Japan, Asia, and globally, applying best practices to improve site performance.

  • Implement and manage ‘test and learn’ plans, coordinating with global teams to align A/B testing with sales and business objectives.

  • Collaborate with creative and planning teams to ensure accurate and compelling product information, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR 2+ years of experience in retail, eCommerce, data science, research, marketing, or business-related roles.

  • Native Japanese speaker with strong verbal and written English language skills. English CV is required for application.

  • Experience in planning, executing, measuring, and optimizing consumer eCommerce site merchandising, with an ability to create optimal customer experiences to drive revenue.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in eCommerce site merchandising, including customer journey optimization, OR a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field AND 3+ years of experience in eCommerce site merchandising, OR a master's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field AND 2+ years of experience in eCommerce site merchandising.

  • Deep understanding of e-tailers and eCommerce in Japan, with the ability to translate marketing needs into program execution to drive store performance.

  • Experience in Site Usability, A/B Testing, Personalization, and Optimization, with proficiency in Adobe Analytics (or similar tools) and Content Square (or similar tools) to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.

  • Proactive and collaborative team player, with a passion for creating optimal customer experiences, and thriving in an international, multi-cultural team environment.
