UL, LLC Senior Regulatory Specialist in Tokyo, Japan
Under minimal supervision, the Senior Regulatory Specialist provides expert knowledge of regulatory issues and requirements for enhancement of WERCS Studio software and its regulatory contents. On a daily basis, the Senior Regulatory Specialist performs the following tasks.
Collaborates with Product Development, Content, and Regulatory Database teams to continually improve the WERCS Studio software and its regulatory contents, specifically pertinent to Japanese SDSs and Labels.
Provides regulatory training for internal staff as needed.
Upon request, provides expert regulatory knowledge and expertise to clients.
Upon request, provides consultation to clients for efficient authoring of SDSs and Labels using the WERCS Studio software and related software services.
Upon request, provides regulatory support to Sales team during software demonstrations and sales presentations.
Upon request, uses the WERCS Studio software to prepare SDS for clients, internal staff, or testing purposes.
Performs other duties as directed.

University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Toxicology, or related disciplines plus generally seven years of experience in Regulatory, Product Stewardship or EHS with an emphasis on international hazard communication.
Must have experience and understanding of the following topics, as a minimum baseline:
GHS and how it was adopted differently around the world
Regulations and standards pertinent to the preparation of Japanese SDSs and Labels. Especially JIS Z 7252/7253, ISHL (安衛法), PRTR (化管法), PDSCL (毒劇法), CSCL (化審法) are mandatory
Transportation of dangerous goods, in the context of preparing SDSs
- Familiarity with the following topics is not necessarily required, but always welcome:
SDSs and Labels for countries outside of Japan
EU CLP, REACH, Poison Centre Notification, SCIP, Asian/ASEAN regulations
Excellent communication skills (Japanese and English).
With governmental experience in addition to industrial experience would be preferred.
Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
