Consulting Member of Technical Staff (IC5) – Transaction Manager for Microservices Product Development

What We Do

Are you passionate about immense scope of creativity and innovation that can be applied in developing modern, distributed cloud native apps based on microservices architecture? If yes, then what about applying that energy in developing the next-gen application development platform for microservices apps, addressing some of the challenging issues, such as data consistency, availability, durability, etc., that enterprise developers face today? As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff in the Oracle Mission Critical Database Technologies development organization, you will help drive the platform definition converting your hands-on experience into platform features and will own multiple components of the platform.

Responsibilities

As a hands-on software engineer and engineering leader, you will work with senior management, product managers and architects to create functional specs/design documents for new requirements, lead the development of new features and integration of related technologies, and ensure customer success with releases already in production. You will be expected to deliver design documents and code as well as interact with various cross-functional teams, such as quality assurance, cloud operations, release management, customer support and other teams to perform your day-to-day activities. You will be expected to work with multiple programming languages, use open-source solutions and Oracle technologies in an agile and collaborative environment and guide more junior team members. You will conduct code and design reviews of the products and services and contribute to architecture standards and community practices. You must be experienced in various microservices architecture patterns, be able to communicate requirements, solution, and architecture with technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will engage with senior developers and architects at enterprise customers to understand their microservices development challenges and demonstrate how Oracle’s capabilities help to address them, sharing your experience and providing thought leadership in this area. Evolved soft skills and excellent communication and the ability to collaborate with others is a key success factor. You will mentor other engineers and must be capable of driving technical tasks independently and with confidence. You will be joining at an early stage of a product lifecycle and have continuous opportunities to lead and be a catalyst for technical innovation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years in software development, with at least 5 years in microservices architecture for enterprise solutions.

  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, principles, and patterns.

  • Thorough understanding of the enterprise software development lifecycle.

  • Hands-on experience building and deploying large-scale microservices-based enterprise applications, preferably in industries like Finance, Retail and Healthcare.

  • Mastery of Java-based microservices frameworks, preferably Spring Boot and others like Helidon, Quarkus, Micronaut, etc.

  • Deep understanding of opensource communities dealing with cloud native app development, like CNCF and others.

  • Proven track record of on-time and high-quality deliverables.

  • Experience working with large enterprise customers.

  • Experience working in highly distributed teams located across continents.

  • Demonstrated experience in cross-organizational collaboration.

  • Strong critical thinking and analysis skills.

  • Experience in developing highly complex, distributed transaction processing systems.

  • Experience with relational databases and distributed persistence technologies.

  • Strong understanding of server virtualization technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, etc. and public cloud infrastructures, especially as it relates to networking and security.

  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and processes in a cloud environment (e.g., Jenkins, Teamcity, etc.).

  • Strong verbal/written communications, organizational and time management skills.

  • Sense of ownership, passion to build, support and maintain quality products for massive scale in collaborative, agile environment, and excitement to learn.

  • BS or MS in Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with microservices development in multiple languages using different frameworks.

  • Experience with workflow coordinators for advanced microservices solutions.

  • Knowledge of observability tools: Distributed tracing, logging, and metrics collection (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger).

  • Experience with message brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ.

  • Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles and Event Sourcing.

  • Experience building app dev platform products and solutions.

  • Experience with developer communities evangelizing technology products, with demonstrable thought leadership examples – blogs, articles, webcasts, conference papers.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of product software and cloud services. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software and cloud services according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software products and cloud services.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
