Analyst, Operations Control Reconciliation (6-Month Contract)

Purpose:
Responsible for reconciling Mpower cash and positions as well as various Bank, Mutual Funds and GIC’s in the GWO Operations Control – Reconciliation Department within Canada and ensuring specific goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted arefollowing governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Responsible for the reconciling MPower SAM and Summit records versus the banks book of record and ensuring an appropriate level of operational efficiency.
• Strict adherence to Bank and regulatory policies and procedures and escalation of issues to management consistent with our internal and external customers needs which is maintained and effective procedural and management controls are in place
• Reconciling assigned Mutual Funds and GIC’s within established guidelines and time frames
• Reconciliation of assigned bank accounts using appropriate systems (such as TLM) within established guidelines and time frames
• Monitoring outstanding items, ensuring discrepancies have been corrected, and escalate any unresolved errors
• Proactively assist other team members as required
• Ensuring all our customer inquiries are handled promptly and professionally and in an accurate and timely manner resulting in a high level of customer service and satisfaction
• Understanding departmental and client needs while collaborating with our business partners to focus on building strong relationships and encourage positive experiences
• Ensure a high level of customer service is provided to internal clients including Scotia-Capital, Wealth Management, Portfolio Administration team (Scotia-McLeod / SMDI /Scotia iTrade / Scotia Trust/1832 Asset Management)
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
• 1-2 years of Reconciliation and Accounting Background Experience
• Ability to understand business language and translate into technical terminology
• Understanding of cash and securities transactions (Fixed Income, Equity, Mutual Funds, GIC)
• Experience and/or working knowledge of Broadridge (ADP)
• Experience and/or working knowledge of CGI based Mpower system an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – with strong skills in Excel
Work Arrangement:
• Work in a standard office-based environment
• Non-standard hours are a very common occurrence
