Job Summary
The Manager of Nursing Services provides leadership and administration for nursing services, implementing organizational strategies to ensure patient care, safety, and quality. This role promotes collaboration with key stakeholders and fosters professional communication, driving strategic thinking within the nursing team. The manager is accountable for achieving organizational goals through quality improvement initiatives, monitoring performance indicators, and engaging the nursing team in continuous improvement. Responsibilities include ensuring the appropriate scope of practice for nursing staff and collaborating with managers to improve nursing processes, maintain safety and patient satisfaction, and achieve operational goals.
Education and Experience
Min/Preferred Education Level and/or Years of Experience
Required BSN
Minimum 2 Years of Experience in Acute Care Setting, management or leadership experience preferred
Preferred MSN, MHA or MBA in a health-related field.
If a BSN is held, an MSN, MHA or MBA or master’s in health-related field is required within 3 years of entering the position.

Required Registered Nursing License in the State of Michigan
Preferred ACLS, Specialty certification

Clinical Leadership:
• Oversee clinical nursing practice adhering to professional nursing standards, codes of ethics, state law, and organizational policies.
• Ensure quality, safe, and efficient patient care delivery.
• Develop and implement nursing protocols and guidelines.
• Evaluate and implement new nursing technologies.
• Monitor nursing performance and implement quality improvements.
Team Management:
• Recruit, hire, and onboard nursing staff.
• Provide education and development opportunities for nursing staff.
• Foster a positive work environment within the nursing team.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to nursing staff.
• Address performance issues and conflicts within the nursing team.
• Promote staff retention.
Resource Management:
• Manage the nursing budget and monitor expenses.
• Collaborate to optimize nursing resource utilization.
• Assist in negotiating vendor contracts related to nursing services.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines to ensure seamless patient care and achieve organizational goals.
• Build relationships with healthcare providers.
• Engage with patients and families to ensure high-quality care.
• Participate in committees and task forces related to nursing services.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards specific to nursing.
• Participate in development and implementation of policies and promote compliance in nursing services.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes affecting nursing practice.
Strategic Planning:
• Contribute to strategic planning for nursing services.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to stoop, bend, and lift at least 35 pounds.
Reports To
The position reports the nursing director of the area and dependent upon the areas of responsibility there may be other reporting relationships.
