We are searching for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Hospitality Global Business Unit’s R&D team. In this pivotal role, you will help define the architecture for our Cloud Native applications while providing critical guidance to both product development and operations teams. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
Design, Develop, and Debug: Lead the creation of large-scale, microservices-based cloud-native enterprise applications, using Java and Oracle databases to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
Containerization & CI/CD: Build and deploy containerized applications via fully automated CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless integration and efficient delivery.
High-Quality Software: Ensure the delivery of highly performant, observable, and horizontally scalable software that supports zero-downtime upgrades, aligning with enterprise standards.
Automated Testing: Create and maintain automated test scripts using the Karate Framework, ensuring defect prevention and continuous improvement in product quality.
Agile Collaboration: Work within a small, high-performing agile team of 8-10 engineers, collaborating across 60+ agile teams within Oracle Hospitality and the broader Oracle ecosystem (159,000+ employees).
Prototyping & Solutions: Innovate by creating prototypes and proposing effective, efficient solutions to solve complex problems and meet evolving business needs.
Leadership in Innovation: Provide technical leadership, driving the development of cutting-edge products, services, and processes while keeping pace with the latest technology trends.
Cloud-Native Expertise: Leverage cloud-native technologies to build resilient, maintainable, and highly scalable systems, integrating robust monitoring and observability capabilities.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Offer deep technical expertise for the troubleshooting and maintenance of existing applications, ensuring ongoing operational excellence.
Mentorship & Leadership: Guide junior engineers through technical challenges, providing leadership and ensuring their professional growth.
Code Quality & Reviews: Champion technical design document and code review processes, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code across the team.
Knowledge Sharing: Foster a collaborative environment through documentation, peer learning, and continuous improvement to ensure team growth and knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Java Expertise: Proficient in developing Java Enterprise (JEE) applications, with hands-on experience in core Java patterns on UNIX/Linux platforms. Familiar with frameworks like Spring Boot or Helidon.
REST API Design: Extensive experience designing efficient and scalable REST API specifications, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
Security & Governance: Strong understanding of security best practices, including data protection and governance protocols.
Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, enabling seamless deployment and scalability.
Distributed Systems: In-depth knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems fundamentals to design efficient and reliable solutions.
SDLC Ownership: Proven ability to take full ownership of a software module throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring quality and consistency.
Agile & DevOps Experience: Exposure to Agile and DevOps methodologies to drive iterative development, collaboration, and continuous delivery.
API Development: Hands-on experience developing enterprise cloud application APIs using RESTful Web Services, leveraging JSON and Java.
Oracle Database Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of Oracle databases, with over 5 years of experience in PL/SQL, including packages, functions, and procedures.
Test-Driven Development: Experience with test-driven development (TDD) practices to ensure software quality and reliability.
Cloud Technologies: Proficiency in deploying products to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and working with cloud technologies to scale applications.
Security Standards: Expertise in secure and scalable enterprise application development, including IDCS, SSO, OAuth2, and SAML.
Cross-Disciplinary Technical Knowledge: Strong background in application operations, platform architecture, database management, network security, and automation.
Problem-Solving & Creativity: Demonstrated creativity, technical acumen, and problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges.
Communication & Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a strong can-do attitude, fostering collaboration and team success.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
