Description

Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an interim Controller for one of our non-profit clients for a 2+ month project in Tuscon, AZ. The Controller will be responsible for managing the general ledger, monthly financial reports and other financial analysis while ensuring financial reporting and procedures are carried out in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for the.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees accounts payable process including preparation and processing of vendor invoices, review of invoice coding and authorization, and posting and distribution of checks/ACH payments. Initiates bank transfers when requested.

• Manages the P-Card program by setting up approved new users, ensuring user expense reports are submitted on time and monthly expenses are recorded on a timely basis.

• Administrator for the P-card and Accounts Payable online platforms.

• Oversees monthly completion of assigned account reconciliations by staff. Maintains and updates the chart of accounts.

• Reviews coding and data entry of cash receipts, in-kind donations, employee donations and accrued liabilities.

• Tracks and records fixed asset additions, disposals, and depreciation. Designs, prepares, and maintains spreadsheets.

• Ensures bank reconciliations assigned to staff are completed monthly.

• Assists in preparation of monthly and annual financial statements including Statement of Financial Position, Cash Flow, and Capital Spending.

• Responsible for preparing schedules necessary as part of the annual financial audit, single audit, 401K audit, and Form 990 tax return.

• Assists in the preparation of the annual operating budget.

• Ensures uniformity of transaction coding in the financial system and coding follows generally accepted accounting principles.

• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and law and adequate internal controls to safeguard assets.

• Provides management, coaching, and training to assigned staff members with an orientation towards learning, co-mentorship, and mutual feedback.

• Ensures cross-training in the department to provide back-up when a staff member is absent and Standard Operating Procedures are in place for key staff functions.

• Responsible for working effectively with key management, staff, and volunteers.

Requirements

• Knowledge in general ledgers, monthly financial reporting and other financial analysis to ensure financial reporting and procedures follow GAAP.

• Knowledge of financial compliance with state and federal regulations and law.

• Knowledge of the bank reconciliation process and the preparation of the annual operating budget.

• Skills in managing a P-Card program to include administration of the card and accounts payable online platforms.

• Ability to oversee an accounts payable process to include vendor invoice processing, reviewing, coding for posting and distribution of checks/ACH payments.

• High level of interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.

• Highly organized with a proven track record of efficiency and effectiveness.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to make sound data-driven decisions.
