The Production Supervisor will supervise and direct the activities of hourly personnel in the Operations Department for the safe, quality, and efficient execution of production plans to ensure availability of sufficient products to meet sales. Monitors plant operation and directs corrective actions when plant upsets or nonconforming product occur, seeking guidance, when necessary, from support staff and operations manager. Responsible for compliance with, safety, environmental quality, and HR policies that relate to plant operations, product quality, and managing direct reports. Drives continuous improvement in operating procedures and equipment operation to maximize efficiency and productivity. Maintains certain records of plant equipment, operating parameters, and operations. Communicates daily with maintenance, inspection, and production support groups to prioritize activities and guidance to meeting production targets.
This role is based at our facility in Tucson, AZ. The 1st shift schedule is 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
You will have the opportunity to:
Perform daily shift changeover meetings for shift goal setting, driving safety and performing fit for duty checks
Responsible for ensuring that direct reports are compliant with all Materion and site EHS, quality, and human resource policies and procedures that affect plant operations
Assign, supervise, and review work of hourly personnel for assigned work unit. Monitor daily direct report performance and provide guidance and feedback as needed to improve performance
Implement production plans according to approved schedules
Review recordkeeping and measurement of process variables
Review shop packs for accuracy and completion and verify earned hours are entered correctly on daily basis
Complete a daily equipment status report and shift report to accurately reflect the activities of the shift
Inspect and evaluate work in progress, identify any problem areas, and may direct remedial action with guidance from management.
Submit worker orders for maintenance related issues
Report products that missed schedule to planning for reschedule and reasons
Evaluate performances of new employees and makes appropriate recommendations
Conduct performance evaluations of department employees
Provide new employee orientation, area task and hazard training
Support development of operator qualification program. Facilitate operator qualification and ensure proper training documented are completed on time
Participate on safety teams, performing documented safety conversations, observing workers safety habits, investigating air sample excursions, near misses, incidents and/or accident investigations, and recognizing and reporting environmental discharges require awareness, education, and common sense
Perform duties assigned by the Operations Manager
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma/GED required; college diploma preferred
Previous experience working in a manufacturing industry
Minimum three years experience as Lead Operator or minimum one year experience as Shift Supervisor
Self-motivated and takes the initiative in accomplishing goals and objectives with minimal supervision
Must have a firm grasp of process fundamentals and be able to learn the peculiarities of the operation quickly
Good technical and problem-solving skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to absorb, organize and recall detailed information
Sets priorities, manages time effectively, and inspires others
Can earn respect and promote good employee relations throughout the organization
Credibility is critical; others within and outside the company will scrutinize behavior, values, integrity, and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead and influence others is crucial. Strong mentoring skillset is also important
Computer skills are essential. Need to be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
Ability to lift and move up to 45 pounds
