Raytheon’s Operations and Supply Chain (OSC) Business Analytics Team provides automation solutions to turn data into decisions, reduce waste and drive our business to be faster, more agile, and more efficient. We leverage technology to build Industry 4.0 capable tools which serve as a key enabler to galvanize the world class performance of our Operations teammates.
We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to support Operations. The developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom solutions within Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform to enhance manufacturing processes, improve operational efficiency, and ensure integration with existing systems. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that drive automation, data visualization, and real-time decision making in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You Will Do
Develop and maintain Ignition-based applications to support manufacturing operations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement new features.
Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing Ignition applications to improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
Provide technical support and training to end users, ensuring that applications meet their needs and expectations.
Stay up to date with Ignition platform updates and industry best practices to continuously improve solutions.
What You Will Learn
Ignition Platform Proficiency
Understanding of Ignition’s architecture, particularly the Perspective module
Application development using the Ignition Designer
Scripting and automation using Python within Ignition
Database management and SQL
Connecting Ignition to SQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake) for data storage, retrieval, and manipulation
Data Visualization and Reporting
Creating interactive dashboards, reports, and charts to visualize real-time and historical data
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues within the Ignition platform and its integration with other systems
Maintaining and upgrading Ignition applications to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires an applicable Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 2 years of prior engineering experience.
Experience in Python and SQL.
The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
Proven experience with Ignition.
Previous experience in development of applications for improved business execution, manufacturing efficiency, or data visualization.
Previous experience in Database development
Previous experience in Database development and associated tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Integrated Services (SSIS) as well as more advanced techniques for merging data and query design
Experience in Snowflake query development and optimization
Previous experience working in a commercial/industrial engineering or manufacturing environment

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
