Job Description

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for laying out designs where avionics, wiring, and harnessing are routed through the aircraft and integrated into the Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS). The role involves collaborating with electrical and structural engineers to develop innovative solutions, utilizing Catia 3DX to develop and release engineering definitions, and conducting trade studies and design reviews for program leadership. Additional duties include material and component selection for compatibility, providing engineering support for manufacturing, and issuing engineering drawing redlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and layout designs for avionics, wiring, and harnessing through the aircraft, integrated into the Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS).

• Collaborate with electrical and structural engineers to develop innovative solutions.

• Utilize Catia 3DX to develop and release engineering definitions.

• Conduct trade studies and design reviews to present to program leadership.

• Select materials and components for material compatibility.

• Provide engineering support for manufacturing processes.

• Provide Non-Conformance Dispositions and issue engineering drawing redlines.

Essential Skills

• Harness design

• Electrical design

• Proficiency in CATIA V6 and Catia 3DX

• Experience with 3Dexperience, Mentor Graphics, Altium, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical

• Experience in electrical hardware design, cable design, wire design, and wire harness design

• Experience in avionics and electrical wiring design

• Proficiency in design engineering and electrical engineering

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent

• 5+ years of experience in electrical hardware engineering, mechanical design of wire harnesses, and cable routing

• Experience with wire harnesses made of sheet metal, machined parts, and/or composite parts

• Experience in routing for avionics and electrical integration

Work Environment

The role is based in Tustin at the Flight Headquarters, featuring a new trendy office space spread across three floors. Departments typically sit in the same area, although some management is local and some are based out of Mojave. The position offers 2 weeks of PTO accrued, all holidays paid, and accrual of 3 CA sick days.
