JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Intern, Penn State Alumni Association's Training and Education Unit

Penn State is currently seeking an intern in supporting the Penn State Alumni Association's Training and Education Unit, responsible for the learning and development needs of volunteer leaders and affiliate student leaders. As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, you can play an integral role in Penn State's future and contribute to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.

Reporting to the Director of Training and Education and working closely with the Volunteer Engagement Team, as well as other partners, this intern will focus on two projects that are designed to provide an hands-on experience at different stages of the instructional design process in both onboarding and leadership development.

The Affiliate Group Onboarding Updates project aims to enhance the onboarding experience for new Alumni Association affiliate group leaders by ensuring that all onboarding materials are accurate, up-to-date, and engaging. The intern will be instrumental in achieving this goal through collaboration, content updates, and the creation of high-quality video content. This project will involve the following key tasks:

Expected Outcomes: Improved accuracy and relevance of onboarding materials. Enhanced learning experience for new affiliate group leaders. Increased engagement through high-quality video content.

The Affiliate Group Leadership Courses project is designed to develop and implement specialized training aimed at enhancing the leadership skills of affiliate group leaders. This project involves a comprehensive approach to identifying the specific needs of these leaders, researching existing leadership development programs, and creating customized courses that address their unique challenges and opportunities. The intern will be instrumental in identifying and developing these new courses.

Expected Outcomes: A comprehensive understanding of the leadership development needs of affiliate group leaders. A curated list of high-quality leadership courses tailored to these needs. Enhanced leadership skills among affiliate group leaders, leading to more effective and cohesive teams.

The successful candidate will possess:

Experience with course development and instructional design; Experience with authoring tools or willingness to learn, specifically Rise 360; Basic video production skills or willingness to learn Syn hesia; Strong research and analytical skills; A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with diverse communities; Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills; A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team; A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.
