We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer for the System Engineering section within the Downstream Systems department, R&D in Uppsala. The Downstream Systems department is part of the Downstream Hardware and Consumables organization, which develops instruments and software for liquid chromatography (ÄKTA systems and UNICORN) to support customers' workflows in the Bioprocess area. Within the organization, there are many different complementary competencies such as mechanics, electronics, software, systems, and applications. Development is driven in cross-functional project teams where we develop products for the Life Sciences industry and academia

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for product development, and if necessary coordinate, in one of our development projects. You understand our customers and their needs, and contribute to various parts of the development; from specifying the needs of the customer, developing test and verification plans and test procedures, supporting the design teams to understand customer needs, to performing verification and validation of instruments and software on system level . It is advantageous if you have knowledge of ÄKTA products and if you have used these together with UNICORN to some extent yourself.

This position reports to the Sr Manager, ÄKTA System Engineering and is part of the System Engineering section located in Uppsala and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

  • Get to know our customers and understand their needs

  • As part of a team, plan and deliver the team's commitments

  • Create user and system requirements for hardware/software and procedures for how they should be verified

  • Plan, execute, and report results from verification and validation of system or subsystem requirements

  • Work together with and support hardware/software developers in system development activities

  • Lead activities in various forums and projects

  • Solve troubleshooting problems in projects or line-related work

  • Continuously improve our working methods together with others

    Who you are:

  • MSc or BSc in a relevant Life Science discipline, such as Molecular Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or similar

  • At least 5 years of work experience in Life Science and/or in a similar role

  • Experience in leading and coordinating activities

  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in protein purification and various applications

  • A genuine interest and experience in product development from the user's perspective, focusing on developing requirements and "hands-on" verification activities

  • Structured and organized team player

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral)

  • Fluent in English and preferably in Swedish as well
