The purpose of this position is to provide chemical and process engineering and machine operation expertise for the Tonawanda manufacturing facility.

The general responsibilities include:

  1. Selection of process equipment and systems for continuous process.2. Continuous improvements in equipment operation and systems' efficiency.3. Troubleshooting support for manufacturing and maintenance.4. Implementation of capital projects.5. Design, coordinate and implement process/production trials of developing products and production system improvements.

This role will report to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide chemical and process engineering along with machine operation expertise

  • Responsible for the performance, preparation, and implementation of process improvement modifications, which have a major impact on the efficiencies and long term growth of the company

  • Leads the development and organization of forming production operations. Develops new equipment, procedures, and policies to increase efficiency and yields in converting operations

  • Actively identifies and recommends process improvements and enhancements in support of overall continuous improvement.

  • Works to develop a successful process workflow and adapt to changing conditions

  • Provides technical expertise along with creativity and innovation for guiding process improvements and implementing new technology

  • Creates and manages projects. Directs and supervises outside contractors and consultants

  • Participates in new product design and launch teams

  • Works with and supports manufacturing and engineering at all WNY facilities

  • Provides preventative maintenance solutions and assists maintenance in identifying critical parts inventory requirements

  • Performs in a team orientated environment, utilizing strong communication techniques. Uses team based interpersonal skills to achieve desired goals and objectives

  • Utilizes Auto CAD to maintain process system documentation consistent with Corporate standards

  • Complies with all Federal, State, Local, and Company rules and regulations.

  • Periodic (minor) supervision maintenance tradesmen, draftspersons, and outside contractors.

  • Interfaces with other plant functions including: Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Accounting, Plant and Process Engineering.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, required.

  • 1-5 years of industrial experience working with manufacturing processes.

  • A basic to advanced knowledge of industrial processing equipment.

  • Proven performance abilities in manufacturing problem-solving, cost savings, product quality, and plant safety.

  • Experience with industrial mixers, pumps, and other pulp and paper industry experience is a plus.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing, process automation, process troubleshooting, equipment design, strong chemistry and chemical engineering skills, and strong written and oral communication skills

Compensation:

  • $ 95,706.00 - 108,570.00

  • Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
