Port of Vancouver Maintenance Coordinator (term for a period up to 1 year) in Vancouver, British Columbia

The maintenance coordinator (term for a periodup to 1 year) is responsible for procuring, coordinating and administering contracted maintenance services for the port authority and Canada Place facilities and physical assets including docks, wharves, buildings, roadways, rail crossings, utilities, security systems, leachate treatment systems and other equipment. The maintenance coordinator will perform similar duties in the port areas, as directed.
What you do:
Coordinate contracted maintenance tasksand conduct inspections and provide reports on the condition ofassets.
Monitor tenant repair and maintenance ofVFPA and Canada Place facilities to ensure compliance with leaseagreements and alignment with Asset Management programs.
Procure contractors to perform maintenanceprojects, coordinate and oversee repair activities and progress, andcoordinate project close-out with stakeholders to ensure work iscompleted.
Administer and coordinate serviceagreements with contractors, track performance and quality, review andtrack invoices, collect and record completed work, and update servicestandards and requirements for review when it is time to renew agreementsor procure the services of another vendor.
Developand maintain effective and collaborative relationships with externalcontacts including terminal managers and contractors.
Ensure purchasing activities comply withbudgets and VFPA financial procedures.Reconcile invoices for purchase orders and/or contracts forservices, materials and supplies provided.
Perform occasional maintenance repairs asrequired.
Monitor VFPA facilities and otherproperties for maintenance and security issues and recommend remedialaction to appropriate VFPA departments.
Perform other assigned duties as required.
What you bring:
High school graduate with a trade certificatealong with a minimum of four years of post-trade certification work experiencein capital and maintenance project coordination, and asset management.
Must have proficient use of current officeproductivity software (Microsoft Office Suite of products) to perform therequirements of the position.
Formal project management education isconsidered an asset.
Must be a team playerwith excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively andpositively with staff and outside contacts.
Ability to workindependently, accurately and on own initiative to maintain work output.
Must be an organizedand detail-oriented individual who can manage competing maintenance and repairpriorities.
Must have a strongknowledge of health & safety, jobsite hazard awareness, and familiaritywith contractor safety management programs.
Effective communicationskills to record daily work details in VFPA’s maintenance ticketing system andcommunicate with contractors and stakeholders.

Workingenvironment: Normal office conditions with frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions on operating terminals, roadways, rail yards, and a variety of industrial and commercial sites.
