Otak Inc. Stormwater Planning Technician in Vancouver, Washington

Otak is seeking a detail-oriented Stormwater Planning Techncian to join our Water and Natural Resources team. This position can be in our Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA offices, and can travel occasionally for project related work.

Current work opportunities include assisting cities, counties, and service districts in Washington and Oregon, assisting with updates to local stormwater regulations and technical standards, and working with engineers and planners to support public utility stormwater master planning.

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with federal and state environmental laws regulating municipal stormwater systems, experience operating, inspecting, or evaluating stormwater systems, and experience with GIS mapping. Experience with field data collection, stormwater master planning, or green infrastructure/low impact development is a plus. Otak provides professional development and mentoring to build technical skills.

What you'll do:

  • Support a variety of multi-disciplinary stormwater planning projects.
  • Research stormwater program compliance and costs.
  • Help develop stormwater policies, manuals, checklists, studies, reports, assessments, and public outreach materials.
  • Coordinate logistics of workshops and meetings.
  • Occasional travel or field work may be required within Oregon and Washington.

What you bring:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Policy, Environmental Science, Regional or Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrable experience using ESRI ArcPro or ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience working with or for a public agency in stormwater field preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word & Excel.
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project assignments.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations. Salary range: $28-39 per hour
