Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer-in-Training to join our highly successful water practice in Victoria, BC. As a Structural Engineer-in-Training your role is to work with general supervision and direction on small to medium sized projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices. This is an office-based position and requires attendance at the Stantec Victoria office 5 days a week.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures.
Writing and editing technical reports, engineering studies, and technical specifications.
Support construction projects with field site visits and construction observation duties.
Coordinate design work with project team members, other disciplines, and other offices.
Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and cost estimating
Assist upper-level staff with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule
Work on multiple projects, simultaneously
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credential
Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes
General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
Strong knowledge of structural systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
Advanced oral and written communication skills
Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Revit and AutoCad software considered an asset
Experience using structural engineering/finite element analysis software is considered an asset
Education and Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil/ Structural Engineering or related field
Registered Engineer-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or equivalent
Working towards licensure as a Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng.)
Valid driver’s license is required.
Position will work on-site at construction locations with some office work. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.

Salary Range(s):
- BC Other Areas $72,200 - BC Other Areas $104,600 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
