We're hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for a premier Corrugated Packaging Manufacturing Company in the Vineland NJ area.

This is a contract to hire opportunity and we're hiring immediately. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operations of our manufacturing equipment by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs. Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

This position involves performing daily preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of production equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, adhering to all safety regulations. You will provide skilled mechanical support to all areas of production, including machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance service. Additionally, you will handle emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and perform scheduled maintenance during machine downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance service.

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine downtime.

  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

  • Manage time and tasks to fulfill all customer orders in a timely manner and enhance production goals.

  • Work as a team member to fulfill all customer requirements at all times.

  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, working with bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, levers, rigging, conveyors, cutters, blades, motors, couplings, gears, gearboxes, air compressors, etc.

  • Respond promptly to machine downtime, determine causes of downtime, and perform necessary repairs.

  • Assist operators in measuring system variability, monitoring shafts for parallel, gap, steam pressure, and temperature.

  • Understand machine OEM specifications, preventative/predictive maintenance, MP2 and follow procedures for routine functions.

  • Ensure quality coater supply, operation, and cleanliness.

  • Keep inventory and workplace clean, organized, and safe.

  • Assist and train other maintenance and/or technical level employees.

  • Commit to 5S housekeeping, comply with all safe operating procedures and safety rules.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Willing to work any shift as required.

Essential Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to predict potential future repair requirements.

  • Efficiency and cost-effectiveness in work.

  • Knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM) tools.

  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel and communicate effectively with line operators.

  • Basic computer operation experience.

  • High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances.

  • Ability to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines, and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.

  • Highly safety conscious.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

  • Understanding of causes of machine breakdowns.

  • Commitment to safety and following all safety regulations.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment where industrial-sized rolls of brown paper are used to manufacture corrugated sheets of cardboard. The machines, including the main corrugator which runs 100% of the time, are large and complex. The environment is loud, requiring the use of ear protection. During the summer months, the facility can exceed 100 degrees, especially when working around boilers.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vineland, New Jersey.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
