What you will do:

  • Create quality map products based on established cartographic standards and effective communication practices using GIS

  • Support the GIS Team in the production and maintenance of data and maps for Utility, Pipeline, Forestry, and Upstream projects.

  • Processing incoming terrestrial laser scan, mobile mapping and UAV data from field crews.

  • Examine field notes, sketches, plot plans, photos, scope of work and samples of surveyed areas.

  • Ensure maps meet client requirements, timelines, quality and production standards.

  • Conduct data analysis and preparation of documents, data reports, and maps.

  • Self-check assignments prior to maps being sent to the Project Manager for final approval.

  • Work in a team setting with other workers to identify effective ways to complete various planning projects.

  • Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including but not limited to, CAD, field observation, satellite imagery, LiDAR, aerial photographs, and existing maps.

  • Learn new skills related to information technology, planning, or other agency priorities, as required.

  • Maintain integrity of datasets, including accuracy, completeness, and consistency

  • Import AutoCAD/MicroStation files to ArcPro and retain important associated information and aesthetic display.

  • Run analysis on data and created new data layers with data from varied data sources (Lidar, DTM, DSM, Vector, Raster)

  • Data mining and data quality assessment 

  • Other duties as required.

    What you will bring:

  • Pursuing degree/diploma in Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, or related discipline.

  • Basic knowledge of drafting and feature extraction from point cloud data will be preferred. (i.e: AutoCAD/Civil3D, TopoDot, MicroStation)

  • Some experience with scripting is required (either Arcade/Python/FME), proficiency with Python/FME/Programming would be an asset.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities is required. 

  • Processing incoming terrestrial laser scan, mobile mapping and UAV data from field crews.

  • Basic knowledge of as-built 3D modeling will be preferred. (i.e: Revit, AutoCAD, Plant3D, 3DReshaper, Cyclone, and/or others)

  • Experience working with any 3D laser scanner is an asset. (such as Leica P-Series, RTC360, BLK360, BLK2Go, Trimble SX10 and FARO Scanners)

  • Experience with other ESRI software including ArcMap, Field Maps and proficient in the use of ArcPro and some experience with Arc Online is an asset.

  • Previous experience in geomatics, planning or infrastructure is considered an asset.

  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and as part of a team with a positive and professional attitude

  • Proficient in the use of office computer applications (Word, Excel, Access etc)

  • Excellent communication skills, innovative and strategic thinker
