Curtiss-Wright Corporation Staff Accountant in Costa Rica

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policy

  • Ownership of all preparer tasks for the assigned functional accounting areas, including accurate and timely preparation of journal entries and relevant supporting documentation.

  • Work effectively with internal and external peers, management, and business partners.

  • Prepare properly supported balance sheet reconciliations timely and accurately; investigate and resolve reconciling differences in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a focus on continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency.

  • Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures.

  • Ad hoc tasks and projects as needed

Essential skills and experience

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with peers, and cross-functionally within the organization.

  • Experience with Power BI/Power Query is a plus

  • B2+ English level.

  • Strong analytical and technical research skills.

  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, deadline driven, and ability to communicate effectively

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX

  • At least two years’ experience in accounting or a related field.

  • Knowledge and experience with payroll accounting, intercompany accounting, fixed asset accounting and/or general ledger.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Shared Services Accounting is a plus.

  • Experience with computerized accounting systems such as SAP, ORACLE, BAAN or Syteline, a plus.

Minimum Education Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
