V2X Field Engineer – Marine Electrician in Philippines

Under the supervision of the Project / Maintenance Manager, the Marine Electrician is responsible for coordinating and executing repairs, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on including, but not limited to, indoor lighting systems; electrical systems and apparatus; main power distribution systems and panel boards; outdoor facility lighting; construction projects and HVAC systems, including on ships / vessels. The Marine Electrician installs and repairs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ship and in shipyard facilities, following blueprints and wiring diagrams. Marine Electrician is responsible for assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical wiring and equipment, as well as inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or necessary repairs. E xhibits superior workmanship and focuses on a quality end product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with an emphasis on quality. Completes all tasks in accordance with local Safety, Environmental, and Health directives. Addresses customer concerns in a prompt professional and courteous manner.
Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
Installs conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws, using hand tools, and threads wires through conduit to terminals, for example connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.
Performs maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm and lighting circuits. Examine electrical system of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, like ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to confirm compatibility of system.
Installs and alters electrical systems aboard ships.
Strips insulation from wire ends and solders ends to terminals, using stripping pliers and soldering iron. Connects power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment. Place passage pipes, or tubing, within selected partitions, walls, or alternative hidden areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the passage to finish circuits between boxes.
Tests electrical characteristics, for example, voltage, resistance, and phase angle, in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators.
Troubleshoots electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and perform required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements.
Maintains adequate inventories of electrical spare parts and requisitions replacements as required.
Understands the use of all tools of the electrical trade and expected to accomplish more complex tasks associated with electrical installation of cable, connectors, panel box, and power terminations, etc.
Diagnoses faulty systems, apparatus, or parts, using equipment and hand tools.
Works on the installation of ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, like motors
Directs or trains other employees to put in, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge and fluency of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
Strong analytical skills.
Working Environment & Physical Activities:
Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions.
Subject to both environmental conditions occurring inside and outside.
The worker is subject to noise and hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma
Experience:
Must be a Marine Electrician with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience working in ship repair onboard U.S. Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)
Ability to read blueprints. Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
Preferred: Successful completion of Navy “A” School or successful completion of a Shipyard or commercial Electrical apprenticeship program.
Other Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Current U.S. Passport with a minimum of 1 year prior to expiration and 3 blank pages.
Skills & Technology Used:
Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Must have basic computer skills.
Thorough knowledge of Electrical Codes.
Ability to manage multiple job sites and priorities.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
