Southco Inc Manager - Facility Supply Chain in United States

About the role

The Supply Chain Manager for each Southco Manufacturing facility is responsible for all activities related to supply chain at the assigned plant location. The position leads and directs all logistics departments which may include Purchasing, Material Handling, Transportation, and Shipping/Receiving. This position is the senior management position in Supply Chain at the location and is responsible for the quality, delivery and productivity of their suppliers, cost effective and efficient warehousing services, outsourcing, asset procurement, inventory control, customer satisfaction and production scheduling. The position reports to the Manager of Operations at the facility.

Compensation: $100,000-$125,000

What you will be doing

  • PURCHASING, PROCUREMENT & OUTSOURCING - The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for all activities that relate to or effect the supply base at their location. The Manager will follow those policies and procedures as set by Corporate Supply Chain in dealing with vendors, the procurement of materials, supplies and assets and in making outsourcing recommendations. The Manager is responsible to ensure that third party operations in the supply chain are not impacting the facility's performance negatively. This position must balance all aspects of the supply chain such as price, delivery, quality, lead time, inventory, customer satisfaction and the overall supplier relationship. The manager takes direction in this area from both the Manager of Operations at the facility and the Director, Global Supply Chain Management.

  • SHIPPING & RECEIVING - The Supply Chain Manager is responsible to ensure that the highest levels of customer satisfaction (both internal and external) are provided through the services of the shipping and receiving departments. The Manager will oversee that the shipping and receiving departments are efficient and cost effective and that they are managed in accordance with the criteria of the Southco scorecard and are working towards a goal of operational excellence and "best in class" operations.

  • HUMAN RESOURCES - The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the coordination of the staffing, training and salary administration of the personnel working in the supply chain function at their location. This position will ensure that all company policies and work instructions are being fairly, consistently and uniformly followed. The Manager is responsible for providing an environment which promotes employee involvement and empowerment thus promoting continuous improvement. The Manager is expected to promote a work environment that contributes to and sustains a positive morale.

  • COMMUNICATION & TEAMWORK - The Supply Chain Manager networks continuously with the facility's Operations Manager, the Supply Chain Managers at other Southco facilities, other functional heads at their location and the Corporate Supply Chain Management Department to ensure that proper communication is on-going. This position will be a key participant in the facility's monthly scorecard reviews.

  • BUSINESS ACUMEN - The Supply Chain Manager is expected to keep abreast of all current trends and developments in industry and management that relate to their role and the supply chain. This includes but is not limited to technology, competition, the economy, Southco's customers and Southco's suppliers. The Manager should be knowledgeable of the products of both Southco's customers and suppliers and schedule regular customer and supplier visits.

About you

  • BS in Logistics, Business Management or Engineering.

  • Minimum of 10 yrs. Operations/Manufacturing experience, 5 yrs. of which in Supply Chain/Logistics.

  • Experience with S&OP and flow/lean manufacturing.

  • Computer, cost accounting, financial and supervisory skills.

  • Communication, problem solving, organizational and planning skills.
