NuScale Power Project Engineering Manager in United States

POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Engineering Manager provides project coordination and oversight for all engineering activities related to projects supporting the deployment of a NuScale SMR. This position acts as the primary point of contact between the NuScale engineering team and the internal and external project stakeholders for their assigned project. Typical internal stakeholders include engineering management, the project director, supporting project managers, and business development. External stakeholders will typically include partner engineering firms and customers. Success in this role requires the ability to efficiently formulate plans and strategies to address new demands, as well as the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and supporting team members. The successful candidate for this position will have the ability to rapidly grow in assigned responsibilities as the scope of assigned projects progresses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the activities of a multi-disciplinary engineering team in close coordination with project managers and other project resources to achieve the objectives of assigned projects.

  • Facilitate efficient execution of the engineering activities and scope within identified cost and schedule constraints.

  • Have a diverse understanding of engineering disciplines to be able to provide guidance on a wide spectrum of complex technical problems.

  • Develop engineering scope and resource plans to support proposal development. This includes ensuring engineering work scope is well understood and agreed to by the performing disciplines, capturing the engineering basis of estimate in a reviewable format, and coordinating with the performing disciplines to estimate hours, durations, and achievable timelines.

  • Be flexible and adaptable, able to integrate new project personnel, manage first-of-a-kind issues, assess and apply site-specific requirements, support product and facility licensing efforts, and adapt to a constantly shifting business development environment.

  • Develop the interpersonal relationships necessary to complete a large complex work scope between multiple parties who often have different work practices and priorities.

  • Proactively identify and achieve resolution of project issues and anticipated challenges, including escalation of issues within the NuScale organization when necessary.

  • Provide direction and coordinate project related activities through engineering leads, supervisors, and managers.

  • Support project risk assessment and risk mitigation activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ experience in engineering with a broad range of responsibilities. Overall knowledge of the fundamental operating principles and systems associated with a nuclear power plant is required. Experience with new nuclear design, licensing, and construction is preferred. Experience with new nuclear power plants is preferred.

  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

The target pay range for this position is $150,537 - $181,682 annually. The full pay range is $134,964 - $211,098.
