Job Title – Senior Scrum Master

Location – Overland Park, KS

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master to lead and coach multiple Agile teams, driving continuous improvement in our Agile practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile frameworks, excellent leadership and mentoring abilities, and a proven track record of guiding teams to high performance. In this role, you will act as a mentor to less experienced Scrum Masters and play a key role in scaling Agile practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate Agile Processes:
  • Serve as the Scrum Master for multiple Agile teams, leading Scrum ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives).

  • Ensure that Agile processes are adhered to and continuously improved.

  • Remove impediments to the team's progress and foster a culture of accountability.

  1. Mentor and Coach Teams:
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced Scrum Masters and Agile teams.

  • Facilitate a high-performance culture by coaching teams on self-organization, cross-functionality, and continuous improvement.

  • Promote Agile best practices and principles within teams and across the organization.

  1. Collaborate with Product Owners:
  • Work closely with Product Owners to maintain a well-groomed and prioritized product backlog.

  • Help define and track sprint goals, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives.

  • Assist with stakeholder communication and expectation management.

  1. Drive Agile Transformation:
  • Lead efforts to scale Agile practices across the organization.

  • Partner with leadership and other departments to establish an Agile Center of Excellence.

  • Advocate for organizational changes that support Agile transformation, including training, tools, and frameworks.

  1. Measure and Improve Performance:
  • Track team metrics such as velocity, burn-down charts, cycle times, and lead times to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities to enhance team performance and product delivery.

  • Ensure transparency on team progress through effective reporting and communication with stakeholders.

  1. Foster Cross-Team Collaboration:
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration in multi-team projects, ensuring alignment and coordination.

  • Encourage knowledge sharing, coordination of dependencies, and resolution of conflicts between teams.

  • Promote communication and transparency across teams and departments.

  1. Risk Management and Problem Solving:
  • Proactively identify and manage risks that could impact team delivery and performance.

  • Help the team overcome obstacles by anticipating problems and providing solutions that align with Agile principles.

Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach, including experience leading multiple teams.

  • Proven experience in scaling Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, LeSS, etc.) across mid to large-sized organizations.

  • Experience working in large, complex projects with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of Agile scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Nexus).

  • Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with Agile tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.

  • Ability to work effectively with senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for Agile improvements.

  • Strong analytical and project management skills.

Certifications:

  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) II or III, or equivalent.

  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or similar certification is a strong plus.

Desired Qualities:

  • A strong leader and mentor with a servant-leader mindset.

  • Ability to navigate complex environments and manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

  • Experience working in both traditional and Agile environments.

  • Adaptable, flexible, and open to change in a fast-paced environment.
