Structural Engineer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking a Structural Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Portland office located Lake Oswego, Oregon. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (candidate will need to live within a commutable distance of the office).
Responsibilities
The Structural Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving the department goals, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.
Perform all aspects of substation structural design, including steel performance and fabrication drawings, and foundation design
Develop steel and concrete construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules
Understand and ensure compliance with structural code requirements
Coordinate with all disciplines involved in electrical substation design
Prepare calculation packages to meet client and code requirements
Conduct QA/QC for deliverables
Support Project Manager and Project Engineer with project reporting needs and proposal development
Mentor and train team members
Adhere to client standards and processes while completing complex designs
Occasional travel may be required
Required Education/Experience
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering) from an accredited institution
4+ years of structural design experience
Proficiency in finite element modeling (Risa3D or STAAD Pro)
Experience with structural analysis, concrete and steel design, soil mechanics, and foundation design
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
Ability to perform calculations for steel structures and concrete foundations
Proven mentoring skills
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
5+ years of structural engineering experience
Experience in seismic design
Experience with RISA, MathCAD, LPile, and STAAD
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
Professional Engineering license (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, including budgets and schedules
