Position Summary:
We are currently seeking anEmerging & Sustainable Technologies Testbed Project Coordinatorto support GSA’s Proving Ground (PG) and Learning Lab (LL) programs. Please note, this positionREQUIRES direct knowledge of emerging and sustainable technologies as they relate to facility design and construction. TheEmerging & Sustainable Technologies Testbed Project Coordinatorwill be responsible for supporting complex field validations of technologies and practices supporting the federal government’s transition to healthy, resilient and smart facilities. Field validations include (1) individual next generation building technologies and practices, and (2) validations of combinations of technologies stacked together. Outcomes support meeting key agency targets, including an all-electric fleet by 2035 and portfolio wide net zero carbon operation by 2045. Field validations are conducted at GSA facilities, are performed by DOE National Labs and deliver measurement and verification (M&V) results that enable GSA to invest wisely in next generation building technologies.
The primary role of the Emerging & Sustainable Technologies Testbed Project Coordinator is to ensure the quality of deliverables of delegated tasks adhere to customer standards and are well organized. They support program and project delivery through collaboration, clear communication, adheres to policies and procedures and informs execution of the project plan. At the discretion of the Program Managers, the Project Coordinator may perform lead Project Management duties for up to two projects.
Current test beds focus on next generation building envelope, energy management, EVSE, healthy buildings, HVAC, low embodied carbon materials, net zero portfolio management, onsite power and renewables technologies. Summaries of past completed test beds and additional program materials can be found at gsa.gov/gpg. The near-term focus for this position are EVSE, on site power and renewables, and net zero portfolio management technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the identification and operation of GPG and LL testbeds. GPG and LL test beds pilot emerging & sustainable technologies and practices in a manner that delivers conclusive, actionable results.
Coordinate all project stakeholders, including GSA and DOE staff, the DOE National Lab team conducting field M&V and the technology vendor
Support testbed M&V Project Plan is effective in delivering generalizable results
Monitor that field work remains on track to deliver conclusive outcomes
Communicate the status of key milestones, identify any “red flags” that may compromise project outcomes
Provide weekly reporting to program leadership
Support the publication and presentation of final M&V results.
Responsible for timely and accurate completion of delegated tasks
Adheres to contract requirements and provides accurate reports of staff and project status updates.
Your Education & Experience
Required:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must participate in a Federal Background investigation
Bachelor's degree in architecture, building science, business, engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field and a minimum of 2 or more years if professional and project management experience
Specialized knowledge of emerging and sustainable technologies relevant to federal targets for federal facility design and operation
Analytical skills to review and respond to presentations of complex, unfamiliar technical data
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead a team of individuals to achieve successful project completion
Willingness to think outside the box
Familiarity with all aspects of global project management
Preferred but not necessary:
Familiarity with field validation of building technology
Specialized Project Management expertise as demonstrated by certification or other training, e.g., Certified Energy Manager, Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, LEED Accredited Professional, etc.
Understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including knowledge and operation of IBM Maximo
