Hiring for Interns who are needing hands on experience in the field of Grounds Maintenance to work on site Baylor University. We are looking for interns in IPM (Pest Management), Irrigation systems, and Arboriculture.

Overview: As a Pesticide Tech Intern (IPM), you will play a vital role in controlling and managing pests within agricultural, commercial, or residential settings. Your responsibilities will include the safe and effective application of pesticides, adherence to regulatory standards, and providing valuable recommendations to clients regarding pest control measures. The position requires attention to detail, knowledge of pesticide safety protocols, and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

Overview: As an Irrigation Intern, you will maintain a large multi zone irrigation system on campus. Perform daily, specialty tasks such as scheduling irrigation, maintaining and repairing irrigation systems used in various agricultural settings across campus.

Overview: As an Arboriculture Intern, you will maintain trees and shrubs, through systematic pruning and integrated pest management as part of an overall plant health care program for the landscape across campus. Perform daily, specialty tasks such as cabling, bracing, and safe removals of trees. Maintain digital records of plant health assessments, removal inventory, and related storm damage. Repairs, maintenance, operations and irrigation audits.

HES will work with and help Interns who qualify, and remain in good standing throughout their internship with HES obtain certifications in their respective specialty.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional coursework or certification in pest control, pesticide application, or related fields is preferred.

  2. Licensing: Possess valid certification or licensure as a pesticide applicator issued by relevant regulatory authorities. Familiarity with state and federal pesticide regulations and requirements.

  3. Experience: Previous experience in pest control, agriculture, landscaping, or related fields is advantageous.

  4. Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and prolonged outdoor activity.

  5. Ethics: Commitment to ethical and responsible pesticide use, environmental sustainability, and customer satisfaction.

Working Conditions:

· The role may require working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather.

· Prolonged exposure to pesticides and related chemicals may occur, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.

· Flexible work hours may be necessary to accommodate client schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
