About the role
Quality technicians, also known as Quality Assurance Technicians, are junior-level employees who perform quality related activities to ensure all products produced meet required safety and quality standards. Quality technicians are provided with on-the-job training but require a keen eye for detail and the ability to focus for extended periods.

Responsibilities
Understand and meet customer specifications, requirements, and expectations
Have good understanding of the processing procedures and sequence of event timing involved with manufacturing a given product
To collect samples, perform the following test procedures with accuracy and precision and report results neatly and in a timely manner:
Bulk & Packed Density, Dispersibility, Solubility Index, Organoleptic procedures, Weight Control, Foreign Material, X-ray Seed Check, Enterobacter (Petrifilm), SPC (Petrifilm), E. coli (Petrifilm), Coliforms (Petrifilm), Yeast & Mold (Petrifilm), % Oxygen – Container, Seam Inspection, Leak Test – Bell Jar, Allergen Testing, Other procedures – to be added
Understand coding, purchase order numbers, lot numbers, sampling procedures and be able to sample incoming raw materials and release/reject accordingly
Understand and implement all elements of environmental program
Document test results for finished goods, raw material, environmental and all other tests
Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated and sample materials are prepared to meet scheduled requirements
Understand and follow SQF program, GMP’s, SOP’s, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), sanitation and pest control programs and contact customer operating procedures
Notify all pertinent personnel of problems or potential problems
Understand and implement HOLD procedure to isolate product or raw material that deviates from specification
Collect, label, pack, and ship samples
Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly manner
Make reagents necessary for lab procedures
Oversee immediate production issues, follow-up as necessary, HOLD product
Work efficiently with personnel in other departments
Perform activities involving sanitation issues
Act as backup for other quality personnel during vacation, planned absence and sick time
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor or as apparent
Qualifications
Must have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read and understand instructions
Must be a self-starter capable of working without supervision
Must be detail oriented and to work accurately and precisely
Must be willing to take ownership and accept responsibilities of QA (Quality Assurance) functions
Must be able to multi-task
Possess a high degree of personal cleanliness
Possess well-developed sensory skills
Possess organization and prioritization skills and the ability to manage time well
Must be able to perform basic computer functions (Word/Excel)
Prefer experience in food manufacturing and /or quality control

US salary ranges
USD $24.25 / Hourly
US pay transparency
The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
