Job Description
The Launch Training Lead facilitates the development of training plans to support the retooling of plants during vehicle and propulsion launches. The training plan focuses on technical training for skilled employees based on new equipment and technology impacting the plant. The Launch Training Lead collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Execution to document training needs through the completion of a Technical Training Requirements Plan (TTRP). They work with plant leadership to prepare for training that ensures skilled trades are ready to support the new equipment at the start of production. The role involves training both at the TLU in Warren, MI, and traveling to various manufacturing facilities for 3-day training courses, which may occur across all three shifts.
Responsibilities
Develop training plans to support plant retooling during vehicle and propulsion launches.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Execution to document training needs through the Technical Training Requirements Plan (TTRP).
Work with plant leadership to prepare for training that ensures skilled trades are ready for new equipment at the start of production.
Train and support plant launch training coordinators in administering standardized work to develop and execute the training plan.
Ensure the completion of key training deliverables, including TTRP, Master Dot, Curriculum Matrix/Plan for Every Person, and a comprehensive training schedule.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) when working with ME and plant stakeholders.
Focus on advanced bin picking and vision systems.
Conduct training in Warren, MI, and travel to manufacturing facilities for 3-day training courses, which may occur on all three shifts.
Essential Skills
Training development
Training documentation
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Computer skills
Experience with vision systems and advanced bin picking
Experience with Fanuc robots, Karel, and GRS certification
Experience with Matrox
Training instruction
Experience in plant engineering
Additional Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of manufacturing experience
Bachelor's degree preferred (preferably technical)
Experience interfacing with unions
Facilitate training and development
Experience with training skilled trades union employees
Work Environment
The primary location is the Manufacturing B building at the technical center in Warren, MI, which houses about 500 people. The group consists of approximately 15 people, fostering a close-knit culture of partnership and collaboration. The building includes both office spaces and equipment for hands-on training. The work environment is growth-oriented, offering exposure to new manufacturing processes and challenges. The dress code is business casual, and the typical daily schedule is from 7am to 3:30pm, with some flexibility based on meeting schedules.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $47.00
