*SUMMARY: * Under general supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in an industrial establishments by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other related duties may be assigned.

50%    Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.  Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.  Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.  Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.  Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.  Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. 

20%    Makes minor repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.  Cleans and maintains grounds and buildings at wastewater and pump stations sites (i.e. lawn maintenance, cleaning tanks wiers, etc.)  Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.  Performs electrical troubleshooting and makes minor electrical repairs.  Makes minor plumbing repairs.

15%    Collects laboratory samples and takes readings when necessary.  Maintains records and files of equipment and replacement parts; perform weekly, monthly and annual maintenance (e.g., date of repair, type of repair, part number replaces or piece of equipment replaced).

10%    Performs the removal of solids (sludge) via sludge hauling equipment and cleaning of sand filters.

5%      Performs other related assigned duties including snow removal, ordering and purchasing parts.  Responsible for keeping vehicle clean and waxed and overall maintenance.
