Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing a safe and high-quality recreational experience at District boat rental facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide District information to the public regarding the preserves, recreational opportunities, rules, and regulations.
- Distribute equipment and attend to individuals renting boats.
- Monitor lake safety to ensure a secure recreational environment.
- Check in private boaters as they enter and exit the facility.
- Maintain neat and accurate records, including incident/injury reports, equipment damage reports, facility logs, and time sheets.
- Assist with grounds maintenance activities using hand tools such as litter pickers, loppers, and bow saws.
- Clean and upkeep amenities, including latrines, using cleaning chemicals.
- Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District\'s safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
- Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- 16 years of age or older at time of hire.
- Experience with managing facility operations, customer service, and recreational programming preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and conflict management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time independently.
- Ability to interpret rules and regulations.
Schedule:Position starts in May 2025. Schedule varies based on operational needs. This position may be scheduled any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, between 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM.
Pay:\$15/hour.
Work Environment:Outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to insects and other wildlife. Work involves frequent lifting and maneuvering of kayaks, canoes, and paddles.
Other Information:Please bring a bagged lunch. Position reports out of Ranger Ops Facility in Blackwell Forest Preserve.Uniforms provided, along with a \$175 safety boot allowance.
