City of Warwick Meter Service Person in Warwick, Rhode Island

Under general supervision of the Chief of Water and the Lead Meter Serviceperson responsibilities will be to read, service, test, and adjust large and small meters used for measuring water consumption. Duties include: Obtains meter readings and fills in as meter reader as designated by management. Performs manual labor related to the installing meters/meter pits and obtaining meter reads. Removes from premise and resets all types of water meters. Charges register gears to obtain proper degree of accuracy. Disassembles all types of meters. Washes and cleans component parts with acid solutions. Examines parts for defects and wear. Repairs or replaces parts and lubricates gear train. Makes proper assignment of register gears. Solders and resets meter hands. Reassembles all moving parts of water meters. Conducts accuracy tests. Performs emergency repairs to meters, water pipes, and hydrants as needed. Inspects and or tests backflow devices. Performs related work as required. Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with courses in shop training; supplemented with experience that may have been gained in a machine shop where trade practices were required in the use of hand and machine tools; or one to three years related experience in the Water industry and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. SPECIAL NOTE: Applicants must possess a valid Drivers License. Drivers License check for the last two years will be performed. Negative findings may prevent applicants from being considered.
