Summary This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Of Operations, Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent, Facilities Operations Division, Elevator Branch. The Elevator Mechanic (Electronics) performs a variety of electronic functions in connection with the inspection, maintenance and repair of elevators, lifts, escalators and various industrial equipment. Experience with high -speed elevators is highly desired but not required. Responsibilities Tour of Duty: This position is to fill day shift 5am -1:30pm but may also be used to fill evening shift 1pm -9:30pm or night shift from Sunday to Thursday 9:30pm to 6am. This position is emergency essential-Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report wo work during emergency situations. The mechanic will perform a variety of Elevator Mechanic and electronic functions in connection with the inspection, upkeep, modification and repair of elevators, lifts, escalators, and other industrial apparatuses. Duties quoted are at the WG-12. The individual selected for this position will: Interprets, diagnoses, and responds to the full spectrum of elevator operational problems, e.g., power buildup problems in multi-voltage generator systems, changes in platform leveling, high maximum elevator speeds, or sudden stops or changes in elevator speed. Interprets electronic diagrams and specifications of complete elevator bank systems. Adjusts complex operational systems. Examples include new data transmission systems with analog-to-digital converters, pulse generators, multiplexers, timing circuits, receivers, etc. Troubleshoots electronic systems for errors for which there is little documentation. Troubleshoots errors in electronic systems. Corrects and/or repairs integrated digital control systems (Motion Control Engineering and Otis). This includes IMC Performa, I-Control, I-Box, and IMC SCR. The incumbent must follow all relevant safety rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures. Must utilize knowledge of and must comply with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner. Performs other related duties as assigned. WG-8: Ability to perform the work of an elevator mechanic (electronics) worker without more than normal supervision. WG-10/11: Ability to perform the work of an elevator mechanic (electronics) without more than normal supervision which includes working independently, showing job responsibility and exercising initiative. WG-12: Possesses in-depth knowledge of the mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic philosophies related to the work performed.
