Description We are offering an opportunity in the government sector for an Accounting Clerk, based in Washington, District of Columbia. As an Accounting Clerk, you will be focusing on various accounting tasks including data entry, tracking of deposits, and processing of checks. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process checks and wires for customer transactions

• Perform data entry tasks for front-end systems

• Track deposits and ensure they are accurately recorded

• Manually transfer data from one system to another to maintain consistency

• Batch process transactions to maintain efficient workflow

• Handle accounts payable and receivable to ensure smooth financial operations

• Oversee billing processes to maintain accurate financial records

• Process invoices accurately and in a timely manner

• Utilize Microsoft Excel for data tracking and management. Requirements • Must hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Proven experience in a similar role within the government sector preferred.

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management.

• Demonstrated ability in handling billing processes accurately and efficiently.

• Strong skills in data entry with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Experience in invoice processing, ensuring payments and amounts are correct.

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial reporting.

• Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various department personnel.

• Strong ethical standards and integrity in handling government’s confidential and financial information.

• Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to team goals.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new accounting procedures and processes as required by the government sector.

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations.

• Clear understanding and knowledge of government's accounting standards and regulations.

• Commitment to continuous learning and being detail oriented in the accounting field.
