The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, configuration, deployment, and administration of our customer's local and wide area network infrastructure. This hands-on role will work closely with architecture teams and customers to translate requirements into robust multi-vendor network solutions. Key responsibilities include:
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Design and implement secure network architectures using routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers and related devices
Configure and integrate various routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
Provision VLANs, access control lists, QoS policies and other services
Perform network upgrades, maintenance, and optimizations to ensure high availability
Monitor network health, performance, and security using industry tools
Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, connectivity and security issues
Automate network configuration and operational tasks through scripting
Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams and runbooks
Work with external vendors and service providers for circuit deployments
Participate in the evaluation and testing of new networking products/technologies
•Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to junior team members
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field
5+ years of experience designing, deploying and operating enterprise networks
Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, LAN/WAN technologies
Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper network devices
Expertise in network security concepts like firewalls, VPNs, AAA, encryption
Proficiency in network automation using Python, Ansible, Bash scripting
Experience with network monitoring and traffic analysis tools
Current Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching or Juniper JNCIS-ENT certification
Key Skills:
Ability to translate business needs into technical network architecture
Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex network issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and presenting
Working knowledge of software-defined networking, cloud connectivity, and IPv6
Attention to detail with a focus on secure network deployments
Analytical skills to monitor capacity and implement network optimizations
Desired Qualifications:
Experience deploying and operating DoD/Federal networks
Understanding of wireless LAN technologies and mobility architectures
Knowledge of SD-WAN, network virtualization and load balancing solutions
Possession of security certifications like CCNP Security or JNCIS-SEC
Familiarity with network programming languages like Python, Go, etc.
