POSITION SUMMARY

AvantGarde, LLC (AG) Senior Human Resources Assistant (HRA) supports the AG client on site at the United States Capitol Police (USCP), Office of Human Resources (OHR) by providing broad-based administrative and technical assistance to a federal HR team (HR Director and HRIS Division Director) including, but not limited to, supporting all personnel action processing functions. Must be willing to work onsite 4 days a week, full-time, in Downtown DC. 1 day a week. Telework is authorized after the first two weeks full time onsite.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· [KM1] Process new hires in NFC/EmpowHR, review and analyze submitted documents, and finalize for processing.

· Analyze, research and correct Standard Form 52’s for all types of personnel actions.

· Code and process all types of personnel actions.

· Establish and modify position management data in the PMSO database.

· Process HCUP packages in the NFC to make history corrections.

· Calculate and process special payments (lump sum annual leave, Hazardous Duty, Military reservist differentials).

· Process payroll documents (i.e., tax forms, child support, garnishments, benefits).

· Process employment and unemployment verification of benefits.

· Prepare History Transcripts for former employees.

· Prepare SF-75’s for employees exiting the agency; and separate and distribute SF-50’s to employees.

· Participate in new hire orientation for USCP Civilian and Sworn employees.

· Review and analyze information associated with employee service computation dates and make appropriate service date corrections; conduct leave audits and make necessary corrections to leave balances.

· Assist the HR Assistants and Specialists with personnel processing actions.

· Process Garnishments and Child Support orders, which includes preparing the letters and communicating with the courts.

· Communicate with the NFC to resolve any problems with processing and /or systems.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

· High School Diploma is required; an undergraduate degree in HR or related field is strongly preferred.

· At least 2 years of experience providing general HR administrative and staffing support.

· At least 3 years of experience with Federal personnel action processing

· Proficiency using the MS Office Suite applications.

· Excellent writing skills with specific attention to detail.

· Must possess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.

· Flexibility in the approach to the delivery of work.

· Must be detail oriented, with good organization and time management skills.

· Must be able to multi-task effectively and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.

· Must be skilled in the use of common office equipment, including but not limited to copy, fax, and scanning machines.

Other Specifications*

· Must be able to report for work M-F, 5 days a week. Alternative flex schedule is allowed within normal work hours (i.e., between the hours of 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.).

· Must be able to complete a suitability process following USCP’s fingerprint/criminal background check.

ADA Specifications

· Operation of a PC in an office environment.

· This is a primarily sedentary position.

· Some bending, light lifting and carrying of equipment may be required.
