Position Description:
ATSS is seeking a highly motivated senior-level Human System Integration Analyst to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG)'s Ship Design Team in Washington, DC. An ideal candidate will have prior experience conducting marine HSI-related studies & analyses, and incorporating recommendations into ship specifications and designs.
Provide Human Systems Integration (HSI) functions in the domains of Human Factors Engineering, Habitability, System Safety, Manpower and Personnel, Human Performance Support and Training for detailed work from concept phase to contract design.
Conduct research, development, design, testing, and modeling functions to build design standards and incorporate HSI in all associated domains.
Work with stakeholders to identify areas in ship design that require improvement and increased consideration for HSI.
Conduct studies of ship systems and spaces to factor human interaction, habitability, system safety considerations, manpower impacts, and human performance support and training interventions.
Incorporate recommendations into ship specifications and design.
Location: Full time onsite at USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC. May be limited "local remote" flexibility with customer approval.
Travel: Up to 10% travel is anticipated for ship checks. US Citizenship Required: Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (preferred); OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance upon hire.
Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.
Education/Certification Requirements:
Master's degree in relevant field such as human systems integration, human factors engineering, behavioral science, industrial engineering, industrial ergonomics, systems engineering, cognitive ergonomics, cognitive psychology, or engineering psychology. At least ten (10) years' experience applying Human Systems Integration (HSI) in a system design environment. Overall experience must also include at least three (3) years' experience working on HSI issues in a marine environment. Experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs preferred. Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred. Proficient with common productivity software. Strong communications skills.
