Robert Half Staff Accountant in Washington, District Of Columbia

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Washington, District of Columbia. The role involves managing accounts payable and bank reconciliation operations within our finance department. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial transactions and record-keeping.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounts payable ledger, including coding, entering invoices, and processing payments

• Regularly prepare, review, and reconcile bank statements against internal financial records

• Collaborate with team members to improve and automate accounting processes

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including the preparation of financial statements

• Provide support for internal and external audits by preparing required documentation

• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable laws and regulations

• Use problem-solving skills to analyze discrepancies and unbalanced accounts, resolving issues promptly

• Handle customer inquiries and maintain accurate customer credit records

• Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently

• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate actions as needed. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger management

• Capability to make accurate Journal Entries

• Demonstrated skills in Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in using Intacct and Intactix software

• Experience with Sage Intacct and Abila MIP software

• Expertise in Excel Formulas and Microsoft Excel

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards

• Proven analytical and technical accounting skills.
