Summary:

The Utility Foreman will be responsible for overseeing and leading a utility crew in the installation, maintenance, and repair of utility systems, including water, storm, electric, and sewer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of utility workers, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely,
  • Supervises and participates work concerned with the installation, maintenance and repair of domestic water distribution and/or sanitary sewage collection system,
  • Supervises and participates the installation and repairs of water mains, hydrants and other activities associated with water system maintenance,
  • Supervises and participates in the installation and repairs of sanitary sewer lines,
  • Interpret and explain plans for construction of new projects,
  • Oversee utility crew to ensure correct methods of construction are employed and strict adherence to safety rules/regulations is in place,
  • Coordinate with project managers and supervisors to ensure resources are allocated appropriately,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Five (5) years experience in utility operations, with a strong understanding of water, gas, and sewer systems
  • Valid drivers license,
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining utility tools and equipment,
  • Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards in laboring work and the necessity of safety precautions,
  • Ability to read drawing, plans and blueprints,
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills,
  • Ability to effectively communicate,
  • Solid problem-solving skills,
  • Experience working in construction management software including Procore and Viewpoint is a preferred but not required,
  • COVID vaccination highly recommended,
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check

Working Conditions:

  • This jobmay require you to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • This job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts).
  • This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
