Job Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Linux High-Performance Computing (HPC) System Administrator to join our team within Benet Laboratories at Watervliet Arsenal, NY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux operating systems and related software on HPC clusters. This role requires a proactive individual who can monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the high availability and reliability of both Linux and Windows-based infrastructure. Position Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, related software, and network services (DNS, DHCP, LDAP) on HPC clusters. Monitor and troubleshoot system performance to ensure high availability and reliability of Linux and Windows-based infrastructure. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and upgrade Linux-based HPC solutions that meet business needs. Implement and maintain security measures, manage user accounts, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. Automate administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, with proven experience as a Linux HPC Administrator or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (preferably Red Hat), CLI, and shell scripting (Bash, Python, Perl). Experience with cluster and job management tools (e.g., NVIDIA Bright Computing, SLURM) and scientific application software. Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM), networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs), and storage technologies (RAID, SAN, NAS). Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
