The focus of the position will be to leverage wastewater treatment expertise to execute projects within UCCs Project Management and Contract Engineering (PMCE) teams. Primary responsibilities will include technically supporting contract execution activities within the utility and industrial wastewater treatment markets.

Candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in collaborating with others to perform field tasks within a team environment. Work experience with a privately held company will be beneficial.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Wastewater Treatment Operator will:

  • Complete all assigned tasks with a high regard for safety and teamwork
  • Perform routine manual sampling of water at various locations to assess water quality
  • Perform field tests on sampled water to evaluate the water treatment system (WTS) performance
  • Calibrate field testing devices on a consistent basis to ensure accurate results
  • Maintain a clean and operational workspace in the field test lab
  • Acquire and send packaged water samples from various locations in the system to a remote lab
  • Perform inspections of the WTS equipment (including pipes, pumps, gauges, injection ports, connections, etc.) to ensure functionality and safety
  • Monitor water, chemical, and sediment levels in various systems
  • Complete various safety and operational forms on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis according to site requirements
  • Submit safety and operational forms to UCC Site Manager and/or UCC Engineers for review and verification
  • Proactively operate chemical injection skids and fine-tune injection rates based on sensor readings and field test results
  • Proactively lead various system maintenance tasks such as replacing filters, backflushing equipment, replacing chemical totes, and other miscellaneous needs
  • Actively communicate site demands and activities to the UCC Site Manager and other UCC Operators to ensure successful operation of the WTS
  • Develop an operational and technical expertise of the WTS equipment
  • Demonstrate UCCs core values
  • The Wastewater Treatment Operator reports to the Site Manager
  • The position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities

Education and Experience:

  • Grade A-Physical/Chemical or higher operating certificate is required
  • At least 4 years of actual operating experience at a physical/chemical wastewater facility is required
  • A Bachelor of Science in engineering, chemistry, or a related science is preferred, or High school diploma is required
  • Technical leadership for complex physical/chemical and biological wastewater treatment systems
  • Broad experience covering contract execution disciplines with a proven track record of successes
  • General business acumen

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to accommodate varying work schedules.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work standing all day.
  • Ability to utilize full manual dexterity (i.e. sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, lifting, walking, manipulating tools with limbs extended).
  • Ability to utilize hand tools for hookup of chemical skid, hoses and small-bore valves during setup and demobilization onsite.
