Generac Power Systems Controls Engineer in Waukesha, Wisconsin

The Controls Engineer is responsible for providing end to end customer support and solutions to our customers for new solutions as well as any hardware/ software failures. The controls engineer would provide consulting solutions and support over phone calls or Teams meeting calls or emails or tickets regarding field protocol connectivity or cloud connectivity. The controls engineers should be able to create Modbus device profiles for new equipment controllers and maintain a library of such profiles
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s of Science in engineering (Controls and Automation or Mechatronics);
Minimum 5 years experience within the industrial controls or electric power grid or utility industries in technical role(s) responsible for defining and/or implementing connectivity, controls, monitoring, or analytics related services and solutions
At least 1 year providing direct customer support over phone or email
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree;
Thorough knowledge of industrial networking such as Modbus, BACnet, IEC104, DNP3, TCP IP, OpenADR etc
Should have worked hands on with IOT gateways
Should be familiar with cellular connectivity implementation and testing
Proven experience with installation, configuration of various distributed energy resources such as residential/ industrial generators, photovoltaic, battery and EV chargers
Extensive knowledge and experience working with various operating systems
Must be capable of handling customer calls or emails
Must be proficient with JIRA or Zoho tracking tools
Must be fluent in English (read, listen and write)
Background in Windows administration and DBA is preferred
Should be willing to travel to customer locations and be ready to take after hour support calls
Must be a great team worker and adept to frequent changes in work priorities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Work with Generac’s contractor technicians to provide solutions to connect and test industrial generation equipment or transfer switches or BESS to Generac’s Miralink platform or on-prem Aurora platform for factory attached connections as well as after-market connections
Troubleshoot connectivity issues and design solutions to resolve them
Provide direct customer support over phone or email with defined SLAs (minimum 2 hours)
Participate in daily sync meetings
Participate on bi-weekly sprint planning meetings
Create electrical drawings in AutoCAD or Lucid, prepare scope of work, work closely with electrical contractors prior, during and after installation
Create standard operating procedures
Participate in lessons learned and process improvement meetings
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
