We are immediately hiring for a Microbiology Lab Technician on the west side of Columbus! This is a long-term career opportunity for someone who wants to grow in the field. This role will primarily be performing microbiology testing on food products, and more specifically on protein shakes in a brand new, state of the art facility.

This opportunity has a ton of room for growth and will be on a 1st shift.

An ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelors' Degree in Microbiology or Biology.

Job Description

As a Microbiology Lab Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining safe work practices and ensuring product quality in a brand new state-of-the-art facility. Your duties will include adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), maintaining sanitary conditions, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will perform in-process quality checks and lab testing, inspect incoming ingredients, and assist in drafting and revising standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct periodic quality checks, including physical and chemical lab tests, coding, weight, packaging integrity, labeling, and temperature checks.

• Inspect and sample incoming ingredients for internal lab testing as required.

• Serve as a liaison between Production, Distribution, Sanitation, Maintenance, and the Quality Department.

• Participate in food safety/quality inspections, mock recalls, and HACCP audits.

• Verify proper setup of production lines and review the sanitary condition of production lines before startup.

• Communicate quality issues and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Perform environmental swabbing of critical production areas as needed.

• Ensure lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and maintain micro sample and shelf-life study programs.
