Microbiology Lab Technician - Day Shift

Job Description

As a Microbiology Lab Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining safe work practices and ensuring product quality in a brand new state-of-the-art facility. Your duties will include adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), maintaining sanitary conditions, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will perform in-process quality checks and lab testing, inspect incoming ingredients, and assist in drafting and revising standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct periodic quality checks, including physical and chemical lab tests, coding, weight, packaging integrity, labeling, and temperature checks.

• Inspect and sample incoming ingredients for internal lab testing as required.

• Serve as a liaison between Production, Distribution, Sanitation, Maintenance, and the Quality Department.

• Participate in food safety/quality inspections, mock recalls, and HACCP audits.

• Verify proper setup of production lines and review the sanitary condition of production lines before startup.

• Communicate quality issues and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Perform environmental swabbing of critical production areas as needed.

• Ensure lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and maintain micro sample and shelf-life study programs.

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM, on a 2-2-3 shift schedule.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a closely related field.

• Some industry experience preferred but not required; relevant microbiology coursework from school will also be considered.

Job Type:

Contract-to-Hire position with an initial duration of 6 months.

Work Site:

Fully on-site position in West Jefferson, Ohio.

Work Environment:

You will work in a large team setting, but much of the work will be conducted individually. The dress code is business casual with lab-appropriate attire following GMP guidelines.
