Ranger Construction Industries Asphalt Plant Manager in West Palm Beach, Florida
This position will coordinate the logistics and movement of all construction related building materials for building highway and heavy construction projects and to assist in safe and efficient operations.
Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, supervising, and directing the operation and maintenance of hot-mix asphalt plant production in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. The Plant Manager works closely with Managers to provide status of production and budget requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor material quality, inspect, and troubleshoot material. Works closely with Quality Control Department.
- Perform and supervise maintenance operations. Delegate responsibilities and monitor performance.
- Calibrate plant for maximum efficiencies.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure timely repair and delivery of parts.
- Troubleshoot downtime and minimize causes by implementing preventative maintenance procedures.
- Manage aggregate inventory and schedule deliveries.
- Ensure OSHA, EPA and other safety and environmental regulation compliance. Lockout/Tagout.
- Communicate and coordinate with Trucking Manager for timely delivery of equipment to job sites.
- Supervise the storage of parts and supplies and the care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Perform or directly supervise the performance of the more difficult types of repairs.
- Report all accidents, incidents and near miss incidents to Safety Director and to ensure employee is taken for post-accident drug testing on same day. Discuss appropriate disciplinary action with Asphalt Superintendent. Complete and present disciplinary action to employee. Complete a Safety Incident report as required.
- Cross-train crew members; Address employee issues and coach, counsel and discipline as appropriate for improved performance
- Communicate and promote safe working practices and Company safety standards at all times. Conduct Toolbox Safety meeting weekly.
- Perform projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent is required
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
- 5 years asphalt plant production and maintenance experience are required.
- 2-3 yrs management experience is required.
- Scheduling, problem resolution and communication skills.
- Analytical skills: very detail oriented and organized.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with computers is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook is preferred.

- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions.
- The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities occurring at the site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment and the movement of mobile equipment.
