JOB DESCRIPTION: Licensed Practical Nurse/Certified Medical Assistant
REPORTS TO: RN Care Manager/Nurse Supervisor
ALSO DIRECTED BY: Assigned Mid-level Provider or Physician, Medical Director, and Chief Executive Officer
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for obtaining vital signs, reviewing medications, and investigating chief complaints as patients check in for appointments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or is a certified or registered medical assistant.
- Thorough knowledge of practical nursing theory
- Knowledge of standard practices, rules and regulations related to licensed practical nursing.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, aseptic technique
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to keep accurate records.
- Ability to deal with a variety of patients, staff, health care providers, and community representatives.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel and lift 25 lbs.
- Possesses a means of transportation that would facilitate travel between clinics and to out-of-town meetings and training when it is deemed necessary and appropriate. Travel may be required with or without advance notice.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years experience as a licensed practical nurse or certified/registered medical assistant is preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Floating LPN/CMA:
Process prescription refills as necessary.
Complete lab draws as requested.
Each day, prepare for lab draws scheduled for the following day.
Assist with triage calls as needed.
Assist other LPNs/CMAs working with providers as needed.
Fill in for absent LPNs/CMAs as needed.
Monitor workload of all clinic LPNs/CMAs, assisting where needed.
Keep supplies in lab stocked.
