Kansas Employer ADF Building Maintenance Worker I - Facilities Maintenance in Wichita, Kansas

Performs various general maintenance duties to efficiently operate the Countys facilities and keep them in proper repair and clean and safe for public use. These maintenance duties are carried out in county buildings, including the Adult Detention Facility. This is an entry level maintenance position that is required to work directly in Sedgwick County Corrections Facility, and has regular contact with inmates and other detention personnel.
Plumbing
- Repair/rebuild/replace: faucets, flush valves, shut off stops, disposal units and drain lines.
- Unclog drain and waste line with hand held equipment or sewer machine equipment.
- Remove and replace toilets and urinals including detention grade combination toilet/ sinks.
Electrical
- Change lamps and bulbs
- Convert light fixture to LED
- Assist electrician
GBM
- Perform carpentry work in repairing County buildings and furniture.
- Removes, replaces and repair pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical locks; disassembles, installs, and repairs locks.
- Paints rooms, hallways, and ceilings; patches holes; primes area for painting.
- Drives trucks and operates equipment in the loading of trucks.
- Remove and replace ceiling tiles.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US drivers license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience in maintenance or construction. Mechanical aptitude.
